Robert Tice saved Ronald A. Farrar from burning, Cambridge, Ohio, December 31, 1990. Ronald, 3, was in a bedroom of his family’s one-story, frame house when fire erupted in an adjacent bathroom in the hours before dawn. A neighbor, Tice, 39, construction worker, called the fire department after discovering the fire, then went to the scene, where he learned that Ronald was still inside the burning house. Despite spreading flames and dense smoke, which precluded visibility, Tice entered the house and, guided by Ronald’s voice, made his way to Ronald, using a wall to guide him. After locating Ronald, Tice took him outside to safety. Tice had temporary difficulty in breathing, but he recovered.
