Robert Wilmot attempted to save Ethel M. Weddup from drowning, Toronto, Ontario, July 3, 1933. Robert, 14, schoolboy, with difficulty swam 55 feet to Ethel, and as he took hold of her, she clasped one arm around his neck. Waves washed over their heads during the struggle. Robert freed himself, and Ethel again grasped him and climbed on his back. After Robert made two or three attempts to swim toward shore against a strong undertow, he and Ethel drifted farther from it. Robert was semiconscious when he was taken to the shore but soon revived. (See case of MARION LORRAINE GILMORE.)
