Roland Voyer died attempting to save Leo Lambert from drowning, Oakland Beach, Rhode Island, August 8, 1923. At a point 550 feet from the shore of Brush Neck Cove, Leo, 14, who could swim but a few strokes, either jumped or fell from a boat into a deep channel. He struggled wildly, and Roland, 14, student, who was in the boat with other small boys, jumped into the water to Leo. They grappled, and Leo grasped Roland’s throat and scratched his face.
