Ronald E. Weant, 21, filling-station attendant, saved Harold E. Mullen, 9, and William C., Jr., and Thomas R. Moore, 10 and 12, respectively, from drowning, Leavittsburg, Ohio, January 27, 1937. The boys broke through ice on a pond into water seven feet deep 19 feet from the bank. From the opposite bank Weant waded and then swam 20 feet, breaking the ice ahead of him, to Harold. Taking hold of Harold, Weant swam three feet farther and got hold of William. He then shoved William toward the bank, and a man in wadable water aided William. Weant then swam towing Harold six feet, and Harold was carried to the bank by another man. Weant then swam to Thomas, swam towing him eight feet to wadable water, and then carried him to the bank.
