Roy F. Barnes saved Milo A. Leffingwell from being killed by train, Moline, Illinois, January 9, 1920. Leffingwell, 70, tool grinder, fell across a track on which a train was approaching at a speed of about 30 m.p.h. Barnes, 49, machinist, stepped on the track beside Leffingwell and attempted to get hold of Leffingwell’s shoulder with his gloved hand, but he could not get a hold. He then stooped, linked his arm through Leffingwell’s arm, and drew Leffingwell off the track only an instant before the train reached them. 20229-1712
