Ryan Shea Eberhard rescued Anthony J. Quinn from an attacking dog, Fort Wayne, Indiana, January 28, 1989. Anthony, 13, was attacked and bitten by an adult, male, Rottweiler dog in the driveway of his family’s home. His neighbor, Ryan, 13, student, saw the attack and ran to alert Anthony’s parents. He then approached the dog and yelled at it; distracted, the dog turned from Anthony, allowing him to flee, and began to chase Ryan. The dog bit Ryan repeatedly as Ryan ran to his house. Anthony sustained bite wounds to his arm, shoulder, back, and thigh; he was hospitalized two days and required surgery. Ryan required hospital treatment for bite wounds to his right arm, which was sutured, and chest. Both boys fully recovered.
