S. Munsey Waugh saved Joan Campbell from being killed by a train, Crestwood, Kentucky, March 26, 1923. Mrs. Campbell, 85, stepped upon a track as a passenger train was approaching at a speed of 58 m.p.h. Waugh, 28, merchant, ran 60 feet to the track, put one foot between the rails, and seized her by the shoulder as the train was 50 feet distant. He jerked her clear of the track and fell to the ground to avoid being struck by the cylinder of the locomotive. 23334-1974
