Samuel C. Adair saved Neil A. MacKay from burning, Sudbury, Ontario, January 4, 1985. MacKay, 76, was home alone when fire broke out in his living room. Adair, 37, accountant, visiting in a house across the street, saw the fire. He ran to MacKay’s house, opened the front door, and, despite the thick smoke and the intense heat inside, crawled into the first-floor hall of the dark house. Feeling his way along a wall, Adair found MacKay on the floor. He pulled MacKay to his feet and dragged him out of the house to safety. 60810-7007
