Samuel T. Carter, Jr., 61, lawyer, saved Edward V. Cox, Jr., 14, schoolboy, and J. Richmond Pitman, 58, from drowning, Gavelton, Nova Scotia, August 22, 1927. (See case of J. RICHMOND PITMAN.) Carter, who was heavily clothed and not in swimming practice, swam 20 feet to Edward and with great exertion swam 25 feet with him to wadable water. Although winded, he removed a heavy coat and jacket and then swam 40 feet to Pitman and swam back with him to wadable water. 27675-2281
