Shirley Belle Viscusi died attempting to save Rose Lutterman from suffocation, Montreal, Quebec, July 25, 1988. Mrs. Lutterman, 82, was a resident of a home for the elderly at which Mrs. Viscusi, 58, was employed as a nurse. Fire erupted in a bedroom on the second floor, near Mrs. Lutterman’s bedroom, and Mrs. Viscusi, who was on the first floor, was alerted to it. After calling the fire department, Mrs. Viscusi went to the second floor for Mrs. Lutterman as the other residents were being evacuated safely from the first floor. Both Mrs. Lutterman and Mrs. Viscusi were found on the second floor; they had died of suffocation.
