Stephen F. Cannon assisted in an attempt to rescue Randy H. Postma from an armed assailant LasVegas, Nevada, May 26, 1975. Highway patrolman Postma, 21, became involved in a struggle with a traffic violator, who managed to obtain the patrolman’s revolver. During the struggle, the gun was fired twice, and one of the bullets grazed the head of Postma, who continued wrestling with the assailants. Among those attracted were Cannon, 28, insurance company manager, and a truckdriver, each of whom ran to opposite sides of the struggling men. The revolver went off two more times while Cannon tried to pin the gun hand of the assailant and the truckdriver struck at him twice with a hammer. The assailant fired the fifth bullet and then fled in his automobile. 54875-6179
