Teresa Rossiter saved Vera C. Keller from burning, Massillon, Ohio, April 21, 1987. Mrs. Keller, 96, was asleep in her second-floor bedroom when a building adjacent to her house caught fire. Flames spread to Mrs. Keller’s house. A neighbor, Mrs. Rossiter, 26, housewife, discovered the fire and ran to Mrs. Keller’s back door. She broke into the house, ran upstairs, and entered Mrs. Keller’s bedroom and awoke her. When the women attempted to flee the house, thick smoke forced them back into the bedroom. Mrs. Rossiter then climbed through a window onto the roof of the house’s front porch. As she was helping Mrs. Keller through the window, firefighters arrived and rescued both women from the roof.
