Theodore S. Hinckley, 36, draftsman, rescued Abbie L. Armstead, 29, from a runaway, Bethany, Connecticut, October 23, 1920. A horse hitched to a buggy, driven by Mrs. Armstead, took fright and ran away. Mrs. Armstead was thrown forward and lay helpless partly in the buggy and partly on the shaft and against one wheel. While the horse was running at a speed of 12 to 15 m.p.h. Hinckley stepped to the middle of the road in the path of the horse and made a grab for the rein. He was knocked to the ground and dragged some distance, the horse falling about 15 feet from where Hinckley had stood. Mrs. Armstead and Hinckley were bruised but not seriously injured. 20966-1814
