Thomas A. Herrman, 21, student, died attempting to save Ernest A. Albright, 21, from drowning, Olathe, Kansas, December 25, 1906. Herrman broke through the ice on New Lake 100 feet from the bank while trying to pull Albright out with a short board, after a fellow student had failed. A man skated to them and pulled Albright out with a strap. The man threw the strap to Herrman and the other student, but they sank while trying to grasp it. 1525-206
