Thomas J. Caniff, 43, toolsetter, rescued John E. Ross, Jr., 24, and Edward A. Saum, 20, electricians, from electric shock, Waterbury, Connecticut, September 12, 1905. Holding a pair of 12–inch snips with both hands, each of which was protected only by a worn and damp rubber overshoe, Caniff cut an electric wire, carrying 2,250 volts, which was in contact with the two men, who were unconscious. Caniff received a slight shock. Ross and Saum eventually recovered. 1489-321
