Thomas J. Gibbons, 26, pit motorman, assisted in an attempt to save Robert M. Meek, 42, miner, and Edwin A. Sutton, 34, assistant superintendent, from suffocation, Cokedale, Colorado, February 10, 1911. (See case of ROBERT M. MEEK.) Gibbons accompanied a party into the entry and assisted in carrying Meek 325 feet to fresh air; then, although he felt queer in his head and weak in his knees, he accompanied a second party into the entry and helped to carry Sutton 425 feet to safety.
