Thomas L. Graham saved E. Pearl, 19, and Edward F. Adams, 1, from being killed by a train, Braddock, Pennsylvania, January 2, 1912. After waiting for a freight train to clear the sidewalk, Miss Adams, carrying Edward, stepped briskly forward and reached a point midway between the rails of another track, on which a passenger train was approaching at a speed of 5 m.p.h. Hearing a scream, Miss Adams stopped between the rails when the locomotive was only 20 feet from her. Graham, 18, laborer, ran to Miss Adams, grabbed her with one arm, and pulled her after him as he crossed the track. As he cleared the track, the locomotive struck her and tore her from his grasp. Her skull was fractured, and one of her ankles was crushed, but she recovered. Edward was but slightly injured. Graham was not injured. 12855-1081
