Tomas R. Pepin died attempting to save Anna T. Wojewodka from drowning, Matunuck, Rhode Island, September 8, 1985. When Miss Wojewodka was caught in the rapid current of a stream caused by the breach of Card Ponds, she was carried into Block Island Sound of the Atlantic Ocean. Pepin, 33, marker maker, ran into the stream and attempted to swim to her. He too was carried by the swift current into the ocean, where he called for help. Miss Wojewodka was pulled ashore by others. Two men took an unconscious Pepin to safety, but efforts to revive him were unsuccessful. 60688-6980
