Victor E. Jacobsen, 32, blacksmith, saved Margaret M. Crosson, 19, and Irving V. Demarest, 17, from drowning, Tottenville, New York, July 24, 1921. (See case of IRVING V. DEMAREST) Jacobsen was the man who reached Irving and Miss Crosson after a swim of 185 feet. He took hold of Miss Crosson and Irving and supported them with difficulty about three minutes, being unable to move them toward shore. He called for help; the dory arrived, followed by a man in a canoe, and they were taken to shore. 21625-1790
