Virginia L. Donaca, 51, housewife, helped to save Rodney 0. Aylett, 20 months, from drowning, Hillsboro, Oregon, September 16, 1967. Rodney toppled into an opening in the cover of a cylindrical reservoir 15 feet in diameter and fell 15 feet into water 40 feet deep. Mrs. Donaca, who was at the scene, picked up a rope secured to a nearby tree and dropped the free end through the opening. She slid down the rope to its end and then dropped three feet into the cold water. Mrs. Donaca took hold of Rodney, who was floating at the surface, and held him while others untied the rope from the tree and lowered the end to her. She tied the rope around Rodney, and he was pulled out. The rope was relowered to Mrs. Donaca, who then also was drawn from the reservoir. 50737-
