Wallace O. McPheters, 24, ore miner, with two others, rescued Charles A. McCoy, 28, from a blast in a mine, Ketchum, Idaho, June 13, 1905. McPheters, who had reached a place of safety, after having been knocked down by flying rock from a pre-mature explosion, returned to the assistance of McCoy, who had been rendered helpless and was lying near other blasts which were momentarily expected to go off, and helped carry him to safety.
