Walter P. Corbett died attempting to save Hanna M. Cullinane from drowning, Nantasket, Massachusetts, August 3, 1927. While Miss Cullinane, 59, was bathing in the Atlantic Ocean, she got into deep water and was carried by a strong undertow to a point 200 feet from shore. Corbett, 40, city firefighter, waded from shore and then swam about 125 feet to her and tried to shove her toward shore. When he had shoved her about 15 feet, he suddenly sank and was drowned.
