Walter Robinson rescued Charles, 22, huckster, and Mary Betros, 40, from a runaway, Waco, Texas, October 9, 1914. Betros was driving a horse hitched to a runabout. The holdback broke, and when the vehicle bumped against the horse, the horse became frightened and ran wildly along a paved street at a speed of about 11 m.p.h. Robinson, 48, servant, ran into the street and grabbed the cheek of the bridle with one hand and the horse’s nostrils with the other. The horse jumped upward and lifted Robinson off his feet. Robinson’s feet were dragged along the ground most of the time for a distance of about 35 feet. The horse ran about 100 feet after Robinson grabbed it and then stopped. 13808-1096
