Walter W. Powers, 15, student, attempted to save Warren L. Ilsley, 15, student, from drowning, Boston, Massachusetts, December 20,1910. Walter skated to Warren, who had broken through ice on the Charles River 40 feet from the bank, where the water was eight feet deep. When Walter attempted to pull Warren from the hole, the ice broke, and Walter fell into the water. Both boys swam to the edge of the ice and were assisted out by another boy, who also broke through, and some men. 7566-612
