Ward W. Bennett, 27, lumberman, saved Harry D. Tobin, 11, from drowning, Glenmere, Michigan, December 25, 1906. Harry broke through the ice on Glenmere Lake 500 feet from shore, where the water was 10 feet deep. As Bennett was about to dive for him, the ice broke, and he fell into the water. Letting himself down to the bottom twice, he found Harry the second time and took him to the surface. Both were pulled out of the hole with a rope. 1494-203
