Wayne E. Scott saved a man from being struck by a train, Matteson, Illinois, November 10, 1971. At night at a railroad station, a man was discovered lying across a track on which a freight train was approaching at about 70 m.p.h. Scott, 47, railroad conductor, jumped down from the station platform to the tracks and ran across one of them to that on which the man was lying. The train’s warning horn sounded. Taking hold of the man, Scott dragged him from the path of the train.
