Wesley N. Fain saved Edward W. Passino from drowning, Glen Allen, Mississippi, July 27, 1918. Edward, 9, thinking the water was wadable, jumped from a boat into deep water in Lake Washington 200 feet from the bank. Wesley, 14, schoolboy, pushed an oar toward him, but it drifted away. Edward sank several times, and Wesley jumped from the boat, swam 10 feet, and took hold of Edward at the back. Edward threshed and attempted to take hold of Wesley and they went under the surface. They rose, and Wesley swam about 65 feet with Edward to shallow water. 19075-1720
