William A. Dixon saved Beverley T. Cleland from burning, Orillia, Ontario, November 23, 1977. Cleland, 39, was injured and rendered unconscious when his airplane crashed in a field and flames appeared around the front end. Dixon, 26, contractor, ran to the aircraft and opened the door on the side opposite the flames. While Dixon was inside the cockpit, attempting to remove Cleland, flames there increased suddenly. Dixon pulled Cleland out of the airplane and was dragging him away from it when an explosion occurred, greatly increasing the flames. Cleland recovered from his injuries. 56381-6346
