William E. Peaker saved Martha L. Johnson from possible electrocution, Anaheim, California, March 15, 1973. At night Mrs. Johnson was injured when her station wagon struck a utility pole and then came to rest upside down as the pole fell alongside the vehicle. There was sparking from broken power lines, and one wire fell across the inverted station wagon, from which fuel was leaking. Peaker, 44, physical therapist, ran to the driver’s side of the automobile and, after testing the vehicle for electricity, squatted and reached into the front compartment. He grasped Mrs. Johnson and pulled her from the station wagon just before the oil-filled transformer on the fallen utility pole burst into flames. Mrs. Johnson recovered from injuries sustained in the accident. 53636-6152
