William E. True, 33, laborer, saved DeLone, 9, and Martha Z. Menaugh, 16, from drowning, Lawrenceport, Indiana, September 4, 1911. True was at the south bank of the White River when DeLone and Martha and their brother and two sisters became distressed in water over their heads. True kicked off his shoes, went to DeLone, who was 25 feet from the bank, and took him a few feet to shallow water. He then went back 10 feet farther to Martha, who immediately seized him around the neck and got on his back. She was heavier than he, and True was under water most of the time until he reached wadable water with her. 7420-1156
