William Earl Lowrance, 17, schoolboy, died attempting to save Harold C. Wade, 13, from drowning, Jayton, Texas, May 8, 1926. While Harold was swimming in a reservoir, he became distressed at a point nine feet from the bank. William plunged from the bank at a point 13 feet from Harold and swam to him. Harold grabbed at William and submerged him momentarily several times. William then got behind Harold and gave him a push toward the bank. Another boy caught hold of Harold and pulled him to the bank. After giving Harold the push, William sank and did not reappear. 27208-2362
