William F. Davidson saved Emma Deisinger from drowning, Rochester, New York, October 22, 1942. Mrs. Deisinger dropped 33 feet from a bridge into the Genesee River into water 13 feet deep at a point 185 feet from the bank. Davidson, 21, student, removed some of his clothing, jumped feet first from the bridge, and suffered pain in his legs. He swam 20 feet to Mrs. Deisinger and then 180 feet towing her to wadable water. Mrs. Deisinger became unconscious but was revived. 39719-3281
