William G. Crofoot attempted to save Francis S. Wain from drowning, Baltimore, Maryland, May 26, 1925. Francis, 10, fell into deep water in Gwynns Falls. Crofoot, 14, schoolboy, who was fully clothed, jumped into the water and swam five feet to him. Francis grasped him around the neck, and both were submerged several times. Finally they sank. A man arrived and recovered Crofoot, who was unconscious. He was revived, but Francis was drowned. 25255-2133
