William J. Weed, 28, salesman, saved Dorothy J. E. Jackson, 6, from being killed by a train, Spring Grove, Pennsylvania, February 23, 1922. Dorothy started across a track on which a train running at a speed of 8 or 9 m.p.h. was approaching. Weed started to run to her when the train was about 80 feet from her and 105 feet from himself. When she was at the middle of the track, Weed stepped over the rail, grasped her by the shoulders, and swung her off the track. He also cleared the track, but his clothing was brushed by a projecting part of the locomotive. 22236-1870
