William M. Edwards, 25, longshoreman, rescued Lucius Hubbard, 29, stevedore, from burning, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, June 20, 1908. Edwards slid a down a rope through a hatchway of a freight steamer to the first underdeck, which was in flames due to an explosion, and, securing Hubbard, fastened him to the rope. Climbing up, Edwards, with assistance, drew Hubbard up. Hubbard died. 3305-310
