William M. Falasca helped to save Nellie K. Wells from drowning, Lynn, Massachusetts, July 22, 1942. When Falasca, 22, machine operator, jumped into the water, his feet struck a bulge in the wall under the water, which jolted him; and he suffered severe pain in his leg and back. During the act he suffered pain in his side and leg and became weak and nauseated. After he was pulled to the top of the wall, he staggered and then lay on the ground from exhaustion. He was bruised and scratched and was disabled for four days. (See case of BENJAMIN WHITE.) 39632-3291
