William P. Murley, 49, farmer, attempted to rescue J. Austin Lott, 4, from a runaway, Capron, Oklahoma, February 8, 1911. Austin was in a buggy to which two horses were hitched when the horses ran away. After they had run a half-mile, and when they were still running at top speed, Murley, standing in the road, attempted to grab the collar and a rein of one of the horses. He failed to get a hold and was knocked to the ground and run over, sustaining injuries that permanently disabled him. The horses ran more than a mile and then stopped at a fence. Austin was not injured. 6211-719
