William V. Nevin died attempting to save John P. Gilmore from drowning, Butte, Montana, August 8, 1920. William, 17, student, closely followed Harrington into the water and swam to John, 17, student, who was Murphy’s companion. He attempted to take hold of John, but a struggle followed in which both boys went under water several times. William got free and reached the bank, almost exhausted, but at John’s calls to him for help, William again entered for him. Shortly after reaching deep water, William sank and was drowned. John also was drowned. (See case of C. FRANCIS HARRINGTON.) 21082-1755
