William Wesley Cager saved Roy C. Binebrink from suffocation, Baltimore, Maryland, January 4, 1925. Binebrink, 35, gas company foreman, entered a manhole six feet deep and almost immediately was overcome by illuminating gas, which was leaking from a broken main. Cager, 45, caulker, lowered himself into the hole and lifted Binebrink, enabling men at the top to grasp his arm and pull him out. Cager, feeling the gas affecting him, then raised his hands, and several men at the top reached into the hole and drew him out. He was badly dazed, but he and Binebrink were treated at a hospital and recovered. 24919-1957
