Woodson Graham, 13, schoolboy, died attempting to save Arlington Buntin, 14, schoolboy, from drowning, Grenada, Mississippi, June 2, 1913. Arlington, who could not swim, got into deep water 25 feet from the bank of the Yalobusha River and went beneath the surface. Woodson waded 20 feet and jumped toward Arlington, who was going down a third time. Arlington, who was taller and heavier than Woodson, grabbed Woodson’s head or neck, and they went beneath the surface together. Both were drowned. 13066-1001
