In the Hero Fund’s Deed of Trust, Andrew Carnegie declared, “For exceptional children exceptional grants may be made for exceptional education.”
After a person is awarded the Carnegie Medal for risking their life to an extraordinary degree to save the life of another, the supportive presence of the Fund remains, including in the form of scholarship aid to Heroes and qualifying dependents.
In celebration of graduating scholarship recipients, the Hero Fund is pleased to offer academic honor cords representing the Tartan plaid of Andrew Carnegie. The tri-color cord of red, green, and gold also features a tassel tag engraved with ‘CARNEGIE HERO.’
Contingent upon individual university policy, the honor cord may be worn at graduation.
